Aim of the journal
"The Annals of Kujawy and Pomorze Uniwersity in Bydgoszcz. Transdisciplinary Studies on Culture (and) Education" is an international, interdisciplinary academic journal dedicated to research into the interrelationships between culture, education and social change. The journal serves as a forum for the presentation and discussion of the results of original academic research, as well as for the development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research perspectives concerning contemporary educational and cultural processes.
The journal’s aim is to publish the results of original theoretical, empirical, comparative and interdisciplinary research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge regarding the cultural, social, historical, philosophical and axiological determinants of education, upbringing, socialisation and human development.
The journal fosters dialogue between pedagogy, cultural studies, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, communication studies and other disciplines addressing issues of culture and education. Of particular importance are studies combining various methodological and theoretical perspectives, as well as analyses illustrating the interplay between educational, cultural and social processes.
The journal also aims to strengthen international academic exchange by publishing research on diverse cultural and social contexts, comparative studies and analyses relating to contemporary educational challenges at local, national and international levels.
Scope of the journal
The journal’s scope covers, in particular:

culture and education – the interrelationships between cultural processes and education, upbringing and socialisation;

theory and philosophy of education – concepts of upbringing, the axiology of education, cultural pedagogy, the philosophical foundations of education and person-centred education;

sociology and anthropology of education – the social and cultural determinants of educational processes, identity, the social roles of education and anthropological approaches to upbringing;

intercultural and multicultural education – integration processes, cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue, migration and the educational consequences of social change;

socio-cultural change and education – the impact of civilisational, technological and social changes on education systems, models of upbringing and educational practice;

digital and media education – digital culture, the media, communication, new technologies and their significance for the processes of learning, upbringing and socialisation;

formal, non-formal and informal education – research concerning schools, families, cultural institutions, social organisations, local communities and other educational settings;

educational policy and practice – public policies, education systems, the organisation of education, the work of teachers and educators, and the social functions of education;

historical and comparative studies of education and culture – the development of pedagogical ideas, concepts of culture and upbringing, and their transformations across different historical periods and social contexts;

communication and culture – social and cultural communication, media culture, communication processes and their significance for education and the formation of identity;

interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research into contemporary educational and cultural challenges, including research combining perspectives from various academic disciplines.
The journal welcomes research conducted in various geographical, social and cultural contexts, with particular emphasis on comparative and international studies, as well as analyses that enable the comparison of different educational traditions, models and practices.

The journal does not restrict the scope of published research to a single country, region or academic tradition. Studies examining issues of culture and education from an international, comparative, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective are particularly welcome.

The journal is aimed primarily at researchers, academics, PhD students and other members of the academic community working on issues relating to culture, education and social change, as well as professionals conducting research in the fields of education, culture and communication.
The journal aims to create a space for the international exchange of research findings and to foster dialogue between different traditions and research perspectives.
