Plagiarism Policy
1. Purpose
The editorial board of the "Economic Annals of Kujawy and Pomorze University in Bydgoszcz" makes every effort to publish only original academic works that meet the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics. Plagiarism in any form constitutes a serious breach of publication ethics and is unacceptable.
2. Definition of plagiarism
The following, in particular, are considered to constitute plagiarism or other breaches of the principles of academic integrity:

copying passages from other people’s publications verbatim without using quotation marks and without correctly citing the source;

using original concepts, methods, terms, research findings or other elements of academic work without proper citation;

paraphrasing or summarising other people’s work without indicating the source from which the content presented originates;

incorrect or false citation of sources, including attributing information to publications from which it does not actually originate;

fabricating, falsifying or manipulating research data and findings;

failure to disclose the actual contribution of authors (ghostwriting, guest authorship) or incorrect attribution of authorship;

self-plagiarism, involving the reuse of one’s own previously published content without proper acknowledgement, and the submission of the same or substantially similar manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
3. Verification procedure
The editorial team employs plagiarism detection procedures to verify the originality of submitted works and to identify potential breaches of publication ethics.
4. Procedure in the event of plagiarism being detected
If, during the verification or peer review process, a suspicion of plagiarism, self-plagiarism or any other breach of publication ethics is identified, the Editorial Board will take action in accordance with the applicable Publication Ethics Policy and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Depending on the nature and severity of the breach, the Editorial Board may:

reject a manuscript before or during the peer-review process;

return a manuscript to the author for clarification or to make the necessary corrections;

withdraw a published article (retraction) if a breach is identified after publication;

publish an appropriate correction or editorial notice;

inform the author’s affiliated institution or other relevant bodies if the nature of the identified breach so requires.
5. Ethical standards
The editorial team adheres to the principles of publication ethics set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows procedures designed to ensure the highest standards of scientific integrity, transparency in the publication process and the reliability of published research findings.
